Hard water carries dissolved calcium and magnesium. As water heats, cools, or evaporates inside coffee brewers, ice machines, and steamers, those minerals fall out of solution and bond to internal surfaces as scale. Once it forms, scale restricts water flow, slows heat transfer, and forces components to work harder to do the same job. In hard water areas, it's one of the most common causes of unplanned service calls and shortened equipment life.
The Scale Interceptor is a permanently energized ionic inducer built from rare earth metals. As water passes through it, the induced field weakens the adhesive bond between dissolved calcium and magnesium minerals, so they're far less likely to attach and harden into scale on the equipment downstream. It's a one-time install with no ongoing maintenance, no chemicals, and no filter cartridges to replace.
Install it on a clean machine. Existing scale deposits don't break loose the moment the unit goes in, so starting with clean equipment keeps old buildup from causing problems inside the machine.
Pair it with filtration. The Scale Interceptor controls scale formation, it does not filter water. Sediment, chlorine, taste, and odor still need to be addressed by a properly sized water filtration system installed upstream of the unit.
"Clean, filtered water" refers to a properly maintained filtration system installed ahead of the unit. The Scale Interceptor is a scale control device, not a substitute for filtration.
